Privacy Policy

Effective April 8, 2026

EstatePlanWise ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website at estateplanwise.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights with respect to your personal data. We are committed to handling your information responsibly and transparently.

Information We Collect

We collect information in two ways: information you provide to us directly, and information gathered automatically when you use the Site.

Information You Provide

When you submit a form on the Site — such as requesting our free Estate Planning Checklist or signing up for our newsletter — you provide us with personal information including your name and email address. We only collect what is necessary to fulfill your request. We do not collect financial data, Social Security numbers, or other sensitive personal information.

Usage Data

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain technical information through Google Analytics, including:

  • Pages you visit and content you view
  • Time spent on individual pages
  • Your approximate geographic location (country and region level)
  • Device type, operating system, and browser
  • Referring website or search engine
  • IP address (anonymized by Google Analytics)

This data is collected in aggregate and pseudonymous form. We use it to understand how visitors engage with the Site so we can improve our content and user experience.

We also keep a first-party daily count of page views, quiz starts, quiz completions, and Trust & Will / LegalZoom outbound clicks. Those counters are totals only — we do not store visitor IDs, emails, or quiz answers. Browsers that send Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control are not counted. Aggregated totals are published at /api/kpis.

Cookies

The Site uses cookies — small text files placed on your device — to support analytics and site performance. See the Cookies section below for full details.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Delivering requested content. When you request the Estate Planning Checklist or subscribe to our newsletter, we use your email address to send you that content and subsequent educational emails about estate planning topics.
  • Improving the Site. Usage data from Google Analytics helps us understand which guides and tools are most helpful, where users encounter difficulty, and how to improve the overall experience.
  • Analyzing traffic patterns. We review aggregate traffic data to understand audience demographics, popular content, and seasonal trends in estate planning interest.
  • Communicating about our services. We may occasionally email subscribers about new guides, tools, or estate planning topics we believe are relevant to them. You can unsubscribe at any time.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising targeting beyond what is described in this policy.

Third-Party Services

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate the Site. Each processes data according to its own privacy policy:

  • Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to collect and analyze usage data. Google Analytics uses cookies and may collect your IP address. Google anonymizes IP addresses by default. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy and Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • ConvertKit. We use ConvertKit to manage our email subscriber list and deliver newsletters and automated email sequences. When you submit your name and email through a form on the Site, that information is stored in ConvertKit. ConvertKit's practices are described in their Privacy Policy.
  • Cloudflare. The Site is served through Cloudflare, which provides content delivery, security, and performance services. Cloudflare processes request data (including IP addresses) as part of its service. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy for details.
  • Affiliate Partners. The Site contains affiliate links to estate planning services including Trust & Will and LegalZoom. When you click an affiliate link, you are taken to that company's website. Those companies have their own privacy policies that govern any data they collect from you. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any third-party service before providing personal information. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of our affiliate partners.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file placed on your device when you visit a website. Cookies allow websites to recognize your browser, remember your preferences, and collect usage information. The Site uses cookies for the following purposes:

  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics). These cookies collect information about how you interact with the Site — which pages you visit, how long you stay, and how you arrived. This data helps us improve our content. Google Analytics sets cookies such as _ga and _gid that persist for up to two years and 24 hours, respectively.
  • Performance and security cookies (Cloudflare). Cloudflare may set cookies such as __cflb and __cf_bm to ensure secure, efficient delivery of the Site and to detect malicious traffic. These are session-level or short-lived cookies.

The Site does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels for ad retargeting, or cookies to build individual behavioral profiles for commercial sale.

Managing cookies. You can disable or delete cookies through your browser's settings at any time. Note that disabling certain cookies may affect site functionality. Most browsers allow you to refuse new cookies, delete existing cookies, or notify you before a cookie is placed. For more information, consult your browser's help documentation.

Some links on estateplanwise.com are affiliate links. This means that if you click a link and subsequently make a purchase or sign up for a service, we may earn a commission from the affiliate partner at no additional cost to you.

When you follow an affiliate link, you leave our Site and enter the third party's website. That company's own privacy policy governs any information you provide to them. We are not responsible for how our affiliate partners collect, use, or protect your data.

We disclose all affiliate relationships in accordance with FTC guidelines. For full disclosure details, please see our Affiliate Disclosure page.

Email Communications

If you subscribe to our newsletter or request a resource (such as the Estate Planning Checklist), you will receive email communications from EstatePlanWise. These may include:

  • The requested resource or welcome email
  • Periodic newsletters with estate planning guidance and updates
  • Occasional announcements about new guides or tools on the Site

Unsubscribing. You can unsubscribe from all email communications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link included in every email. After unsubscribing, we will remove your address from active mailing lists promptly. You may still receive a transactional confirmation of your unsubscribe request.

We never sell or share your email list. Your email address will not be sold, rented, or shared with unaffiliated third parties for their own marketing purposes. Period.

Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss. These measures include using HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted to and from the Site, and relying on third-party platforms (ConvertKit, Cloudflare) that maintain their own robust security programs.

Important

No method of transmitting or storing data over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure, please contact us immediately at privacy@estateplanwise.com.

Children's Privacy

The Site is directed at adults and is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us at privacy@estateplanwise.com and we will promptly delete that information from our records.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of data we hold about you. Even if you are not in a jurisdiction with specific data protection laws, we are committed to honoring reasonable data requests.

Specifically, you may:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you (primarily your name and email address if you subscribed)
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your personal data from our systems
  • Unsubscribe from all email communications via the unsubscribe link in any email

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@estateplanwise.com. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe, typically within 30 days.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the services we use, or applicable law. When we make changes, we will update the "Effective" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.

Continued use of the Site after a revised Privacy Policy is posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. If we make material changes that significantly affect how we handle your personal data, we will make reasonable efforts to notify active subscribers by email.
