Trust & Will vs. LegalZoom: Published List Prices (August 20, 2026)

Updated August 20, 2026 · 8 min read · Educational comparison — no star ratings

This page compares published list prices for two online estate-planning platforms. It is not a ranking, not a review score, and not legal advice. If you are still choosing a document type, read will vs. living trust first. Start with the 7-question quiz if you want a fit check before you buy anything.

Published list prices (fetched August 20, 2026)

Trust & Will prices are from trustandwill.com/compare. LegalZoom individual will prices are from LegalZoom’s last will and testament overview. That LegalZoom page has Individual and Couple tabs. On August 20, 2026 we confirmed individual list prices; couple amounts are listed on the same page — we do not invent couple numbers here. Sale prices visible on the LegalZoom page that day are not used below; we quote the listed regular prices.

Item Trust & Will LegalZoom Estate planning attorney
Individual will $199 Basic $129 · Pro $149 · Premium $299 Custom — we do not publish a fake average
Couples will $299 Couple tab listed on the same page; confirm the day you publish or buy Custom
Individual trust $499 Not quoted here — we did not fetch an official LZ living-trust list price Custom
Couples trust $599 Not quoted here Custom
Membership / add-ons $49/year membership; Attorney Support +$299 Attorney access is described on LZ plan cards; we do not invent extra fees Engagement letter

See also our wills guide and trusts guide for how these documents work. This page does not cover SLATs or any “$399 executive mix.”

When DIY is enough — and when it is not

Online will and revocable-trust kits can be a reasonable starting point when all of the following are true:

Hire a trusts-and-estates attorney — not a DIY checkout — when any of these apply:

Our quiz routes $1 million–$5 million estates, estates over $5 million, and business/partner answers to an attorney path — not a DIY living-trust buy button.

An unfunded trust is a will with extra steps

Signing a revocable living trust does not move your house, brokerage account, or LLC interest into the trust. If you never retitle those assets, the trust does not avoid probate for them. That is the most common DIY failure. Read How to Fund Your Living Trust before you pay for a trust kit.

Federal numbers (do not invent a 2026 cliff)

The federal basic exclusion for 2026 is $15,000,000 (Pub. L. 119-21). The annual gift-tax exclusion is $19,000 per donee for 2025 and 2026. Source: IRS What’s New — Estate and gift tax. The 2026 federal “sunset cliff” did not happen. State estate taxes can still apply far below $15 million.
